The Difference between Cold Process soap and Melt-and-Pour Soap
On our website, we use two different kinds of soap, cold process and melt and pour. With cold process soap, we mix the soap ingredients ourselves and make it go through the saponification. This makes soap! With melt and pour, we use a pre-made soap base. We melt the base, then add scent and color, and then pour it into a mold. Both kinds of soap have their uses. In cold-process soap, we can fully control what ingredients we use, and we are able to do certain designs better than with melt and pour. Melt and Pour is a pre-made soap base, which means the soap has already gone through the saponification process. In melt and pour you can use the soap once it cools down, as opposed to cold process where you have to wait four to six weeks for it to harden. Also, melt-and-pour soap has a clear variety which you can’t get with cold process soap. Now you know the difference between cold process and melt and pour soap! By the way, our “Bar” category in the shop is for cold process soap, and the “Fun Shapes” and “Rabbits” categories are for melt and pour soap.
